“Police investigations are going on in Moscow and Dagestan, where the suspects came from,” the spokesperson said.

“The Moscow police have involved their top officers in the search,” he went on.

The officers were shot in west Moscow’s Kuntsevo district when they stopped a BMW sedan and asked to see identification. Reports said police returned fire and at least one of the three assailants may have been wounded.

Investigators found a passport belonging to a resident of the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan at the crime scene.
