The Russian international striker is desperate to get away from White Hart Lane after losing his place in the first team. The former Spartak Moscow player hasn"t started a Premier League match this season, and has been linked with a number of sides, including Zenit St. Petersburg, Liverpool, Galatasaray, and Birmingham.

However, prospective buyers have been put off by Tottenham"s wish to get back as much as possible of the $28 million they paid to sign one of the stars of Euro 2008.

Pavlyuchenko had hoped that talks between his agent Oleg Artemov and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would see some progress, but nothing concrete came out of the discussion.

"I"ve had a phone conversation with Daniel Levy. But the situation with Pavlyuchenko hasn"t become any clearer. Levy has taken time out to think things through," Artemov told the Sovetsky Sport paper.
