The volcano eruption in Iceland will not...

"Now Iceland"s volcano dust has reached just the lowest atmospheric layer, the troposphere," Aleksei Kokorin said.

"It disrupts aviation, but has no influence on the climate, and will come down with the rain in a few days. If it had reached the stratosphere, it could have stayed there for two years, reflecting some solar radiation, which could have changed the climate," the scientist said.

This opinion contradicts a statement by the Russian World Wildlife Fund climate program chief, who earlier said the volcano dust could slow down the global warming for some years.

Both scientists predicted the dust would stay in the atmosphere for up to two weeks.

The eruption of the volcano on the Eyjafjallajokull Glacier in Iceland, which began on Wednesday, has already paralyzed air traffic in the U.K., France, Germany, Belgium and the majority of Nordic countries.
