The Russian president may launch a Twitter page soon as well. In early April, the presidential executive office asked the Twitter website management to delete Medvedev"s personal account because it was not official. His press office said he would soon begin his microblog on Twitter, modeling information transparency for the nation.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has no plans to register on Twitter, his press spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. The prime minister"s official website is enough, he added.

Russia currently has no regulations for social networks, blogs or microblogs.
